EFFORTS IN IMPROVING OUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

In an era where technology is deeply embedded in our daily lives, making sustainable choices now extends beyond just our buying habits. Now it’s also about how we engage with and utilize technology everyday. As a business, we have the opportunity to consistently evaluate our practices, maintaining our commitment to sustainability both in meal delivery and online!

Email marketing is a powerful tool for businesses to connect with their customers. However, the environmental impact of email marketing, particularly in terms of energy consumption and carbon emissions, is often overlooked. Think about how frequently you receive promotional emails or how full your inbox becomes after just a few days. We strive to be a leader in assessing our tech presence while considering our environmental impact.

Already, you may have noticed some of our emails look different! A little darker and a little more minimalistic. We’re striving to lessen the energy needed to deliver you the information you need.

Here’s how we plan to be more sustainable online:

A. Optimize Email Design + Strategy: Many of our automated emails will appear shorter, designed to be in dark mode, and contain few images to deliver only relevant information about your order! Depending on your email provider, dark mode inverts the colors within emails so they may look very different. If you have any issues reading our emails, please reach out!

B. Utilize SMS Marketing: Sending an SMS message, or text message, requires much less energy than loading an email! If you haven’t already, sign-up for our SMS marketing! Here, you’ll always be the first to know about exclusive deals, new menu items + more.

C. Educate Our Community: Oftentimes, we simply are not aware of the options for more sustainable choices especially online. Don’t worry, we’re here to help! Below we’ve listed simple yet impactful ways we all can make more sustainable choices though our tech usage:

  1. Opt for Dark Mode: Dark mode isn't just easier on the eyes; it's also lighter on your device's battery. By reducing the amount of light emitted, dark mode can help conserve energy, prolonging battery life and ultimately reducing the need for frequent charging.
  2. Choose Energy-Efficient Devices: When purchasing new phones and laptops, look for energy-efficient models. These devices are designed to consume less power without compromising on performance, ultimately reducing your energy consumption and carbon footprint.
  3. Extend Device Lifespan: Instead of succumbing to the temptation of upgrading to the latest model every year, strive to extend the lifespan of your devices. Regular maintenance, software updates, and proper handling can significantly prolong the life of your gadgets, reducing electronic waste and conserving resources.
  4. Reduce Screen Time: Limiting screen time not only benefits your well-being but also reduces energy consumption. Encourage mindful tech usage by scheduling screen-free activities, implementing digital detoxes, and setting app usage limits to strike a balance between connectivity and sustainability.
  5. Recycle Responsibly: When it's time to retire your old gadgets, ensure they're recycled responsibly. Many electronics contain hazardous materials that can harm the environment if not disposed of properly. Research recycling programs in your area or consider donating your old devices to be refurbished and reused.

By making conscious choices in our tech usage, we can utilize technology as a tool while paving the way for a more sustainable digital future. We will continually reassess our sustainability practices as more information becomes available to us. Every action, such as using dark-mode or setting screen-time limits, contributes to a greener, more sustainable world.
